C.E. O’GRADY

 authoress

At nine years old C.E. O’Grady created her first comic, Baby Buckie, which followed the many adventures of a quick talking ladies man who sported a diaper and a black bow tie – the ideal attire for a 6 month old secrete agent. Her readership of two (Mom and Dad) gave it rave reviews, and they encouraged her to continue bringing her daydreams to life.

The years of Baby Buckie faded, but C.E.’s love for stories burned on. Her preteen years were spent immersed in words. Gulliver’s Travels to The Genuine Works of Hippocrates, she read every book within in her reach. C.E. found her passion in words and soon began writing short stories.

Holding a deep interest in science, particularly in aquatic sciences, C.E. O’Grady completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Biology and Chemistry. She also began a career as a fly fishing guide and freelance writer, but never lost her obsession for fiction. While many took notes in class, C.E. found her mind twisting the facts of science into stories. Thus, birthed her fascination with discredited science and her debut novel, Soft Inheritance.

KATY L WOOD

 author

Katy L. Wood is an author and illustrator who lives in varying areas of Colorado with her two cats, Rumble and Rebel. She is the oldest daughter of the youngest son of a huge Colorado family that has been in the state for generations, and she has always been fascinated by the history and dynamics of people in the Colorado Rockies.

The majority of her childhood was being handed a bear-whistle, pushed out the door into the forest, and told to be back for dinner. Occasionally she would have cousins with her, occasionally she’d be alone. There were many adventures to creepy abandoned trailers with bones in the front yard (which she learned as an adult were not actually abandoned, making them ten times creepier), up creeks while making rudimentary maps, and into old mine shafts. Honestly, it is probably a miracle she survived to adulthood. She is now taking bets on if she’ll make it to middle-age, given that her habits have not changed the slightest.

ANDEAN WHITE

author

After family, Sage the dog, and biking; writing is my joy. I am sixty going on twenty-one and look forward to writing everyday.
My career as a small business manager was cut short by Parkinson’s Disease, but a new hobby of writing travel journals, sprinkled with a little encouragement from family and friends, sparked a desire to test my writing skills.
I live in a town named Bountiful. It is fitting—as my life has been blessed with many good things. One of which is, I married my high school sweetheart. We enjoy our friends, the outdoors, and travel.
Early short stories were posted on free e-book sites and developed a small following. It was, however, large enough to attempt a short book. The book was disappointing even for a firstbook, but the experience was invaluable.
Falling back on my small business experience, I found a writing coach/editor Kathryn Elizabeth Jones of Idea Creations Press, and assembled a team of book reviewers—surrounding myself with the best people: Bob and LaNeil Andes, Robin White, Lynda Logan, Kim Logan, Melanie Nish, Cindy Paret, Nate Paret and Jonathon Nish.
Winter’s Thief is my third book, and the first book of a tetralogy. Watch for Spring’s Saboteurs to be released August 31, 2015.

SW HAMMOND

author

Sean William Hammond is the author of The Final Book: Gods and The Mixtape Manifesto: A Pop Culture Confessional. He is also a freelance writer contributing to music zines, adventure and lifestyle magazines, and new media technical websites. Here on SWHammond.com you’ll find a mix of his articles, essays, and personal memoirs that encompass pop culture, politics, relationships, and thoughts on life.
SW’s writing style, particularly within his commentary, is often compared to Chuck Klosterman with countless references to pop culture, especially music. Hammond’s honest approach creates an easy camaraderie with the reader, then tests the boundaries with sensitive subject matter. Philosophy, ethics, and virtue square off against hedonism—with Hammond in the middle, struggling to keep his head above water.
SW’s fictional writing makes a conscious effort to blend perception, rumor, and fact leaving the reader to question reality. His stories are often rooted in truth—taking place in historical settings or by playing on modern headlines—making use of common and relatable themes to drive home critical points about the human condition. Though grand and epic; the backbone of his novels hinge on basic principles of morality, or lack thereof.
